19 travelers got lost in Haituo Mountain and were rescued yesterday

A group of travelers climbed the Haituo mountain during the Labour Day, the Haituo mountain was located in the junction of the north of Yanqing Zhangshanying town and Chicheng city Hebei province, about 18km away from Yanqing, the main peak’s altitude is 2242m, it is the second highest peak in Beijing. The Haituo mountain has three peaks: the big haituo, the small haituo, the three haituo.

Late on May 2nd, police of Chicheng City zhangjiakou got a call from Beijing police, they were told 3 travelers and 1 guide were trapped in haituo mountain of Chicheng city, and they lost connection with another 15 travelers. The fire department of the Chisheng city immediately went to the scene to rescue after getting the police call.

It was told that the 19 travelers are not professional climbing enthusiasts, most are individual traveler, but the specific number of trapped people and the location is being verified. Since it was in the night, the temperature is about 1℃, and the large wind and the big area makes it greatly difficult for the rescue work. The search team searched the travelers by various technology equipments with outdoor searching flashlights in hand. Finally, the 19 travelers were found in 9:50 AM May 3rd with the outdoor searching flashlight, one of them suffered minor injuries.

They told that the guide and the 18 travelers lost connection and separated into two parts when going downhill. The guide and the 6 travelers are much closer to the bottom of the mountain, but it was so difficult to walk on the mountain road at night, and someone was injured, they had to call the police for help.  Another 12 travelers camped in the mountain for the security sake.
